Anzan (Mental maths)
What is anzan?
Mental Maths is known as Anzan in Japanese and is an amazing technique whereby the child is able to access an imaginary Soroban (abacus). It is critical that they practise the skills first on the physical abacus. They are then able to effectively access the imaginary soroban.
Anzan is achieved by visualising the abacus using the right brain to perform calculations mentally without the use of a pencil, paper or calculator.
